Religous Education
Religious Education and Collective Worship is provided according to the Norfolk Agreed Syllabus, copies of the syllabus and our own policy for RE and Collective Acts of Worship may be viewed at school on request.
Parents wishing to withdraw their child from RE or assemblies are invited to discuss the matter with the headteacher.
Pupils' response to this subject is good. They listen attentively and many are confident and eager to express their views or relate their experiences. A particularly good feature of their responses is the willingness to share the experiences of the faiths of their families. Pupils listen well to each other and show great respect for others' experience, even if different from their own. They respond well to opportunities to reflect and to draw or write about personal special times and places. The older pupils respond particularly well to discussions about church buildings, drawing on their experiences of visits.
They also consider how other faiths celebrate times such as New Year, considering the Hindu festival of Diwali, the Jewish festival of Rosh Hashanah, the Muslim festival Eif, or the celebration of the Chinese New Year.
Many of the assembly themes and multicultural experiences offered to the pupils further strengthen their religious education.
